Canine Parvovirus :
- Highly contagious
- Serious
- Attacks the gastro intestinal tract of puppies, dogs and wild canids.
- Spread when puppies or dogs ingest virus in another dog’s infected feces (stool)
- Most at risk are puppies less than four months old and dogs not vaccinated yet
- Signs are lethargy, loss of appetite, fever, vomiting, severe and often bloody diarrhea
- Deaths occur within 48-72 hours
- Diagnosis based on clinical appearance and laboratory tests
- Treatment should be started early by keeping dog warm and separated from other dogs
- Not easily killed, see us for specific cleaning agents
- PREVENTION is by vaccination

- Use caution with puppies in public places before being vaccinated.
- Do not allow dog or puppy to come into contact with fecal waste from other dogs.
